You need to train your muscles properly to endure stress running is going to put on your body.

How do you do this?

Dr. B. suggests Pre-run workouts!

Pre-Run Workouts — Goal is to Strengthen muscles

  • Strong Hips and glutes – help stabilize the pelvis.
  • Calves, legs, and hamstrings need to be stretched out
  • Do NOT push your speed or push your distance too quickly. (Even experienced runners can get injured)

Do your “due diligence”, Dr. B. reminds runners. Take your time with your workout and you will be fine!

 Common Runner Injuries

  • Runner’s Knee – Attila Tendonitis.
  • Achilles Tendonitis – Swelling of Achilles tendon.
  • Planar Fasciitis – Inflammation at the bottom of foot.
  • Shin Splints – Pain on the front of the leg.
  • Stress Factors – When runners keep going out and pounding their bodies. When runners train too hard and too fast.
  • Iliotibial band Syndrome   – (ITB) Syndrome – Tenderness on outside of knee and hip due to overtraining – too many miles or increase time too fast.
