Ask Dr. Bunny. Losing your home in a fire? Honorable Steve Hintz, guest.

The Honorable Steve Hintz joins Dr. Bunny to discuss losing his home in the Thomas Fire in December of 2017, as well as being the tax collector in Ventura County, and helping those who lost their homes in the Thomas Fire get tax relief.

The Thomas Fire, which at the time was California’s largest wildfire, raged through Ventura and Santa Barbara counties in December of 2017.  It burned nearly 300,000 acres before being contained fully on January 12, 2018.

Losing your home in a fire is devastating, and trying to find a temporary place to live when hundreds of other people in town had also lost their home, is incredibly challenging. This was just one of the overwhelming tasks that Steve and his wife were faced with due to the fact that over 500 homes in Ventura alone had burned to the ground.

We’ll learn first hand what Steve would’ve taken, if he had had enough time, and the one thing he is most grateful that was saved (hint: she shares his last name :-).

He also shares how he & his wife have coped with the multitude of things that have been involved in rebuilding their lives, and how laughter has played a role.

Tune in for a very informative and amazingly uplifting interview.  And by the way, you’ll hear for yourself what a great man our Ventura County Tax Collector is!

Ask Dr. Bunny. Sex Addiction? Love Addiction? Michael Roth, guest.

Michael Roth, C.Ad, SRC

Addiction Coach & Life Coach Michael Roth joins Dr. Bunny to discuss addiction.  Michael’s specialty is sex addiction and love addiction, although he does work with other addictions.

Michael shares why he chose this specific specialty, and why that choice was a personal one.

In this very intimate interview, Michael and Dr. Bunny delve into some important, and sometime sensitive, topics.  This is an interview you don’t want to miss!

About Michael Roth, C.Ad, SRC:

Hi, I’m Michael Roth, C.Ad, SRC. I am an experienced and dedicated Holistic Addiction and Wellness Specialist, life coach, author and speaker. I have been practicing in Ventura County, CA for over 35 years, and my passion is to support my clients in a variety of struggles, including stress management, addictions, and more.

I could give you a long list of my credentials, including my degrees and the diplomas on my wall, certifications, books I have written, etc. But at the end of the day, the only credential that really matters to my clients is – Can you help me? Can you offer me hope? I’ve tried many different methods, and so far none of them have worked. How are you any different?

I firmly believe that I CAN help. THERE IS HOPE, no matter how many failures litter your past.

I have supported people who have grown up in the world of addiction. From the time they were young, their family cultures were often characterized by secrets and cover-ups.

As a result of this family culture, the feelings of deficiency they internalized, and often other factors as well, many of these otherwise good people have ended up struggling with addictions of various sorts.

They have lived with the shame and guilt that comes from addiction. They have felt the regret and lived with the consequences of their decisions. I have walked with them through the pain and scarring that addiction brings – both to the addict and to the people around them – and together we have moved from despair to hope, and eventually to healing.

I have spent the last three decades practicing and continually learning new, cutting-edge modalities that allow me to give my clients the most effective and modern care available. My approach is holistic, meaning that I approach each client as a whole person, with an emphasis on the mind/body connection. This is my passion.

I am currently a Certified Addictionologist (C.Ad) with a specialty in compulsive behaviors and disorders, a Certified Sexual Addiction Recovery Coach (SRC), a Certified Intimacy Anorexia Coach, and a nationally Certified Life Coach. And as I mentioned before, I am continually pursuing additional training and learning in new modalities, as an expression of my commitment to offer my clients the very highest level of care and experience that I can provide.

If you or someone you love struggle with addiction, please don’t continue to live in despair.

Fill out the contact form or call my office at (805) 256-0372. Even if you are not local to the Ventura area, let’s chat. I have helped clients from all over the world (via Skype or other methods).

Don’t wait any longer. There is hope. There is help. There is healing.

Ask Dr. Bunny. Farms? Ranches? Country Real Estate? Paul Ward, guest.

Real estate expert Paul Ward joins Dr. Bunny to discuss specializing in country real estate, ranches, and farms. He shares insight on the real estate business, and some very interesting stories – including a special story about how 10,000 antiques got him into the antique business for awhile!

After deciding that antiquing wasn’t for him, a suggestion from a realtor friend led him to getting his real estate license & into specializing in farms, ranches & country estates.  And from there, Paul created a niche!

Tune in to hear Paul’s journey, and find out what very special person popped into his head one day, just a few years after he had made a request!

About Paul Ward:

For the past 15 years I have specialized in selling country estates and ranches throughout Ventura County. This niche stems from my childhood, working long summer days on my grandparent’s citrus and avocado ranch near Santa Paula.

I love these types of properties, and it is my desire to help families, individuals and investors from all walks of life achieve their dream of owning a ranch or country estate.

In 2014, I formed a team called the California Lifestyles Group. Each team member has a different focus and specialty area. Our team is committed to the specific needs of every client we serve. We understand that trust is built over time, not instantly.

Providing our clients with the tools they need to make an informed and conscientious decision is an integral component of our mission. We act as trusted advisors while you, the client, are the ultimate decision-maker.

Ask Dr. Bunny. The Rainbow Bridge? Steve Bodofsky, guest.

Author Steve Bodofsky joins Dr. Bunny to discuss his wonderful book, The Rainbow Bridge. Steve shares how he came to create this very special book.  The Rainbow Bridge is a poem and picture book about when our furry friends pass and their time on Earth is done.  The original art work in this book is absolutely stunning!

Steve reads this very special poem for us during the interview.  Anyone who has ever had a beloved pet will relate to this beautiful poem and the time of life that it speaks of.

Steve shares his own experiences of why The Rainbow Bridge project is dear to his heart.

Steve’s wife operates the Last Chance ferret rescue in Southampton, PA, and we’ll hear very interesting information about ferrets, as well!

A beautiful & uplifting interview!

The History Behind the Rainbow Bridge Poem

The first time I heard the story of the Rainbow Bridge, I was in love. What a wonderful idea: That someday I would be reunited with the friends whose company I cherished most in my life. Just the thought of it still brings a tear to my eye.

But there was something missing. The thought was there, but it needed something. I thought about it over and over, looking for the missing piece. Then suddenly I knew what it was: I wanted it to be a poem.

I looked again, to see if I was missing something… some hidden rhythm within the verse. No, it wasn’t there… but I heard it… deep down, between the lines. The entire concept… the idea… was poetry. It just needed a bit of coaxing to bring out the meter and rhyme.

Since no one else was doing it, I decided to give it a try. The result of my work is The Rainbow Bridge (catchy title, huh? Well, what would you call it?).

I thought I did a decent job, but I needed to know if I’d really captured the spirit of the story. So next I gave a copy of the poem to a few close friends. The teary eyes told me I’d hit the nail on the head.

Finally, I decided there was only one way to present it to the rest of the fuzzy world: with a picture that truly represents the story. So I called my good friend and graphic artist Mike Weisser, and asked him to collaborate with me. The culmination of our efforts is the Rainbow Bridge Fine Art Print, and the Rainbow Bridge Sympathy Cards.

And now, thanks to the tireless work of artists Bruce and Tina Kaiser, we offer the Rainbow Bridge picture book: a line-by-line perspective of the poem in all its glory

Ask Dr. Bunny. A good neighbor? Fred Sussine, guest.

Fred Sussine, an exceptionally good neighbor, joins Dr. Bunny to discuss being a good neighbor, and why Fred got involved in neighborhood issues, such as house color regulations.

Fred shares valuable information about how he talked with his home owner’s association regarding house colors, and got them to realize how restrictive it was.  The home owner’s association issued a survey regarding colors and once that came out, Fred started discussing it with all the neighbors, going door-to-door, meeting everyone and talking with them.

Fred also shares some interesting stories about living in a Victorian home in a suburb of Washington, D.C., before moving to California.  He worked with the Historical Preservation group there, then got involved in the business association, as well as the city council, to help have more impact on the revitalization and preservation issues!

The things he learned during the process of getting his Victorian home painted turned out to be a great background for the house color regulation challenge he had when he moved to Oxnard.

In addition to being a wonderful neighbor, Fred is a fascinating person – and this is a great interview you don’t want to miss!

Ask Dr. Bunny. Wrestling?? Joe Lara, guest.

Wrestling seems to run in Joe’s family & Joe tells a great story about how his Grandfather’s brother wrestled another fighter & got beat up – then he turned up at dinner!

You’ll learn who Gorgeous George, Pat Patterson and El Pantera Negro are, and so much more!

Joe is a fascinating man with many great stories.  Tune in and prepare to be entertained and inspired!

Please check out Joe’s “Looming cancer surgery no insurance to cover costs” Facebook fundraiser:https://www.facebook.com/donate/363641467519087/

Joe’s most recent post (Jan. 21, 2019) regarding the fundraiser:

It’s been a month since my colon cancer surgery. The pain is mostly gone, but the scars are still very tender. I got upgraded to lift 20 lbs, but I’m still not allowed to return to work. Being a self employed plumber means I have had NO income coming in since October 1st. I’m not allowed back to work until March or April. My only source of income are the donations that I received from a lot of you. My bill from the first hospital was $30,000. And my monthly expenses are $4000. I’m still waiting for the big bill from the surgery and I’m on pins and needles with worry. If anyone can help with donations I can really use your help! Please share this with everyone you know. Thank you! Joe
