In today’s show, Dr. J and Dr. Bunny parse deep questions about the differences between and similarities of modern medicine and holistic practices.
They agree that miracles happen every day – and the 1st miracle, Dr. J says, is birth. The second is staying alive! And, he says, “We don’t even understand staying alive!” We can engineer a cell in a petri dish but we can’t make it replicate!
As for staying alive, Dr. J continues, “Our brains segregate the environment for safety. Our ability to categorize things quickly is what gives us our strength but if we overuse this, it can box us into a corner.”
Medicine began with with individuals using herbs, plants, chants, spiritual connections, anything in the environment. Still today over 50% of people get better after seeing a doctor even if they get a placebo. How is that different then a witch doctor?
The Placebo Effect: You have to be convinced at the deepest level of belief that it will authentically cure you. The placebo effect is as effective as a lot of treatments that are 40-60% effective.
Eighty to ninety percent of treatments Dr. J has in his office succeed 99% of the time. This is because they have been “proven” viable through research and tested many times. As a result, his patients trust him and trust must be established in order to treat the patient successfully.
Each patient is an individual and one treatment does not fit all! We are all diverse. Diversity ensures the survival of the species.
Listen to Dr. J’s show for more details and more fascinating conversation that may change your perspective on medicine, communication, and how you live your life!
