Ask Dr. Bunny. Farms? Ranches? Country Real Estate? Paul Ward, guest.

Real estate expert Paul Ward joins Dr. Bunny to discuss specializing in country real estate, ranches, and farms. He shares insight on the real estate business, and some very interesting stories – including a special story about how 10,000 antiques got him into the antique business for awhile!

After deciding that antiquing wasn’t for him, a suggestion from a realtor friend led him to getting his real estate license & into specializing in farms, ranches & country estates.  And from there, Paul created a niche!

Tune in to hear Paul’s journey, and find out what very special person popped into his head one day, just a few years after he had made a request!

About Paul Ward:

For the past 15 years I have specialized in selling country estates and ranches throughout Ventura County. This niche stems from my childhood, working long summer days on my grandparent’s citrus and avocado ranch near Santa Paula.

I love these types of properties, and it is my desire to help families, individuals and investors from all walks of life achieve their dream of owning a ranch or country estate.

In 2014, I formed a team called the California Lifestyles Group. Each team member has a different focus and specialty area. Our team is committed to the specific needs of every client we serve. We understand that trust is built over time, not instantly.

Providing our clients with the tools they need to make an informed and conscientious decision is an integral component of our mission. We act as trusted advisors while you, the client, are the ultimate decision-maker.

Ask Dr. Bunny. The Rainbow Bridge? Steve Bodofsky, guest.

Author Steve Bodofsky joins Dr. Bunny to discuss his wonderful book, The Rainbow Bridge. Steve shares how he came to create this very special book.  The Rainbow Bridge is a poem and picture book about when our furry friends pass and their time on Earth is done.  The original art work in this book is absolutely stunning!

Steve reads this very special poem for us during the interview.  Anyone who has ever had a beloved pet will relate to this beautiful poem and the time of life that it speaks of.

Steve shares his own experiences of why The Rainbow Bridge project is dear to his heart.

Steve’s wife operates the Last Chance ferret rescue in Southampton, PA, and we’ll hear very interesting information about ferrets, as well!

A beautiful & uplifting interview!

The History Behind the Rainbow Bridge Poem

The first time I heard the story of the Rainbow Bridge, I was in love. What a wonderful idea: That someday I would be reunited with the friends whose company I cherished most in my life. Just the thought of it still brings a tear to my eye.

But there was something missing. The thought was there, but it needed something. I thought about it over and over, looking for the missing piece. Then suddenly I knew what it was: I wanted it to be a poem.

I looked again, to see if I was missing something… some hidden rhythm within the verse. No, it wasn’t there… but I heard it… deep down, between the lines. The entire concept… the idea… was poetry. It just needed a bit of coaxing to bring out the meter and rhyme.

Since no one else was doing it, I decided to give it a try. The result of my work is The Rainbow Bridge (catchy title, huh? Well, what would you call it?).

I thought I did a decent job, but I needed to know if I’d really captured the spirit of the story. So next I gave a copy of the poem to a few close friends. The teary eyes told me I’d hit the nail on the head.

Finally, I decided there was only one way to present it to the rest of the fuzzy world: with a picture that truly represents the story. So I called my good friend and graphic artist Mike Weisser, and asked him to collaborate with me. The culmination of our efforts is the Rainbow Bridge Fine Art Print, and the Rainbow Bridge Sympathy Cards.

And now, thanks to the tireless work of artists Bruce and Tina Kaiser, we offer the Rainbow Bridge picture book: a line-by-line perspective of the poem in all its glory

A truly uplifting interview you don’t want to miss!

In high school I worked weekend nights on drug crisis hotline. People who were having a bad drug experience, or were suicidal or just needed someone in the middle of the night to talk to called in. My job was to listen and be with them until sunrise and they lived to experience another day.

As an undergraduate, I began working with children who were developmentally disabled. I became Executive Director of Forestview Community Homes, Inc. in Minnesota which provided residential programs to children and adults who were developmentally disabled.

While attending Graduate School I was Vice President of Lutheran Social Services of Southern California directing the emergency services, hot meal programs, and senior services in Orange & San Diego Counties and created the counseling program throughout southern California.

While in grad school, I completed my 3,000 hours of counseling internship and became a Certified Hypnotherapist and NLP Practitioner.

I consider myself to be a life-long learner and I continue to grow in my own knowledge and experience.

Today, I am active in the Medical Hypnosis profession, I teach Advanced Medical Hypnosis to health and wellness professionals and I am active in my home community.

I have served on various boards, volunteered in organizations and I was the sports psychologist for the Bainbridge Boys Lacrosse team on Bainbridge Island, WA.

I love it when young men stop me on the ferry or on the street to share with me how they have used the hypnosis skills that I taught them when they were playing Lacrosse.

They tell me that hypnosis helped get them through college and land their first professional job. Others tell me how they use their hypnosis skills in relationship and parenthood.

These are the stories that fill my heart and make it all worthwhile!

Ask Dr. Bunny. A good neighbor? Fred Sussine, guest.

Fred Sussine, an exceptionally good neighbor, joins Dr. Bunny to discuss being a good neighbor, and why Fred got involved in neighborhood issues, such as house color regulations.

Fred shares valuable information about how he talked with his home owner’s association regarding house colors, and got them to realize how restrictive it was.  The home owner’s association issued a survey regarding colors and once that came out, Fred started discussing it with all the neighbors, going door-to-door, meeting everyone and talking with them.

Fred also shares some interesting stories about living in a Victorian home in a suburb of Washington, D.C., before moving to California.  He worked with the Historical Preservation group there, then got involved in the business association, as well as the city council, to help have more impact on the revitalization and preservation issues!

The things he learned during the process of getting his Victorian home painted turned out to be a great background for the house color regulation challenge he had when he moved to Oxnard.

In addition to being a wonderful neighbor, Fred is a fascinating person – and this is a great interview you don’t want to miss!
